No environmental permit for the Oscislowo open pit mine

After more than a year of complex proceedings, on 14th March 2017, the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Poznan made public its decision on denial to issue environmental conditions for the so called Oscislowo pit mine. This means the ZE PAK group, at present, will not be able to apply for a mining permit for this economic undertaking.

In the opinion of NGOs and of a significant share of the citizens of the Greater Poland region, the pit mine operation would lead to irreversible damage to the environment (including Natura 2000 areas), displacement of the inhabitants as well as loss of jobs. A recently discovered priceless burial ground constructed around 2500 B.C. located in the mine operation area would also be endangered.

The decision is not final.
